February 2024 - Baseball Equipment Donation

The Fundacion Caimito City continues to be actively involved in our community. We are thrilled to announce that FCC recently made a generous donation to the little league team “Los Toros de La Liga Juan Carlos Cruz” from El Caimito. As a child, I used to play on the same field. Back then, we didn’t have any baseball equipment. We had to make our bats (usually out of guava tree), our balls (out of old socks), and we had to play barehanded because we had no gloves. I remember dreaming of being able to buy a full set of baseball equipment for our team.

In February, I made that dream come true. It took me about two years to gather all the equipment, but thanks to our donors and especially to our primary sponsor, FCC board member Matt Schreiber, and his wife Emily, the FCC was able to donate the baseball equipment to the little team. Matt and Emily donated part of the equipment themselves. Additionally, last fall Matt organized our "Virtual 5K" event. Funds from that event were used to purchase the remaining equipment.

The equipment includes: uniforms, full catching gear (which includes a mask, catching gloves, chest guard, and knees protector), regular baseball gloves, first base gloves, several bats, a bucket of baseballs, several helmets, baseball socks, and an umpire mask.

This donation is a testament to Fundacion Caimito City's commitment to promoting sports and nurturing our local talent. By providing the little league team with the necessary equipment, we have not only fueled their passion for baseball but also empowered them to pursue their dreams on the baseball field.

Fundacion Caimito City continues to make a significant difference by investing in young baseball players. We hope that our dedication and support serve as inspiration for others to step forward and contribute to the growth of the sport and the development of our local talent.
